Bayou La Batre Communities

Bayou La Batre, known as the Seafood Capital of Alabama, is a fishing community home to many shipyards and local fisherman. Large, moss-draped oak trees provide a scenic drive along the town’s waterfront with views of Dauphin Island in the distance. The small town’s name may sound familiar. It was featured in Forrest Gump and has since been associated with Tom Hanks’ widely-popular character. Another nod to Hollywood, the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean was built for Disney Studios in this small shrimping community.
